As the temperatures in St Petersburg seem to be getting higher this week, here is a list of events that will give you the chance to enjoy the last days of “bearable cold”. Event: RIFF Italian Film Festival
About: The biggest Italian-Russian film festival will take place once again in St Petersburg. During the festival, the audience will have the chance to enjoy the best from the Italian cinema with a wide variety of genre from comedy, drama, documentaries and short movies. After each session, there will be discussions and Q & A with the directors and actors.

Event: Photo-project Birds
About: Among the palm trees of Tauride Gardens and the sound of electronic music, cello and sounds from the wildlife, the greenhouse will host a unique performance of photos and illustrations that will be projected onto a multimedia space.

Event: Concert Leningrad
About: One of St Petersburg’s most famous rock bands, Leningrad, will perform on Friday at the Ice Palace arena, which holds more than 12,000 people. The band, which has been performing for almost 20 years, has become notorious for their vulgar lyrics that have often been censored on both TV and radio. Buy your tickets here.

Event: Side by Side LGBT film festival
About: The annual LGBT film festival will come to an end this week with the award ceremony coming up on Saturday. Thursday will be dedicated to a series of short movies and the Czech movie Olga Hepnarova. On Friday, the Italian movie Arianna will be tackling the issue of intersexuality that will be discussed after the screening with the lead actress. On Saturday, the topic of HIV will be revisited with the documentary Remembering the Man followed by a Q&A with the directors.

Event: Together We Light
About: The fifth anniversary of the Together We Light festival is taking place this weekend. Dress warm and watch as the sky of St Petersburg will be once again decorated with balloons, fireworks, and lasers for a light show over the span of two nights.

Event: Exhibition Sergey Loginov
About: The St Petersburg-based artist, Sergey Loginov, will be holding a two-week exhibition at the art centre Taiga called Looking Down From Heaven. The exhibition features a series of three-dimensional installations portraying people long gone from this world, looking from heaven to what happens below.

Event: DJ History, public talk with Bill Brewster
About: The famous DJ and writer Bill Brewster is the co-author of the famous book Last Night a DJ Saved My Life. On Saturday he will give a public talk on everything you need to know about DJs. He will take questions from the public before the real party starts at the Kuznya House.

Event: Maine Coon cat festival
About: After countless dog festivals at ETAGI, the time has finally come for cat lovers with a two-day festival in honour of the largest breed of cats: the Maine Coon.

Event: Concert Brothers Moving
About: After a sold-out concert at Erarta, the Brothers Moving will give another chance to the fans who haven’t manage to buy a ticket to their concert earlier this week. The Danish band of four brothers started their career playing on the streets in different cities and eventually reached the fame on the streets of New York City.

Event: English corner: meet the authors
About: Practice your English with a group of fellow learners and native speakers. On Sunday, the class will focus on an article about Dostoevsky and a special interview with the writer’s great-grandson (see the article here).
