The year 2016 is wrapping up and if you need some ideas on how to spend the last days of this year, here is a selection of the best events. This week, St Petersburg will host many Christmas markets along with numerous events in which late Christmas shoppers will find their perfect gifts

Event: XI Mariinsky International Piano Festival
About: For the eleventh time, the ‘International Piano Festival’ takes to the Mariinsky Theatre with pianists from around the world. Through 30 December at Mariinsky-II, Concert Hall and chamber venues there will be concerts of piano music performed by international prize-winners.

Event: Taiga Market
About: On the last Sunday of 2016, Taiga will host a traditional Christmas market with products from local designers. At the event you will find clothes, leather accessories, jewelry, but also homemade cakes, mulled wine and sweet treats all accompanied by the music of various guest DJs.

Event: Hannukkah Concert
About: The legendary St Petersburg’s “Billy’s Band,” the singer “Lev Elgardt and Classic Band,” and Gregory Yakerson, will exhibit on the Grand Choral Synagogue’s stage. The concert is held to remember the Russian artist Mikhail Smirnov.

Event: Traditional Pre-NY Bangla dinner
