Concerts, raves, lectures and games: find the best events to brighten your week

The party season has officially started in St Petersburg with the Off by Roots United at ArtPlay, but if you are not much of a party type you can still opt for a more quiet jazz concert, open lectures, games with expats, or a light festival. Check out our events to find the ones most suited to your taste and budget

Event: White Lies
About: White Lies is a trio from West London which reached first place in the UK Album Chart with their debut album To Lose My Life. The band will play their most famous songs in St Petersburg as well as present their new album, Friends.
Music critics compare the post-punk band White Lies with such groups as Joy Division, Interpol, and Editors, on par with Arcade Fire and The Killers. Find more concerts this Spring here.

Event: Blues in the head show by Billy’s Band
About: Billy’s Band, a must-see local band from St Petersburg, plays a mix of blues, swing, jazz, and rock. The band was founded in 2001 by Billy Novick and Andrey Reznikov and since then, has recorded three live albums, three singles, and several compilations. The musicians describe their style as “romantic alco-jazz” and they are one of the few popular bands in Russia that practice the DIY model: releasing, distributing, and advertising records and organising concerts and tours themselves. Event: Light Festival
About: The third light festival in a row in St Petersburg will take place around the building of the new stadium. The theme of the festival will be the history of St Petersburg and national football. The event is expected to attract around 20 thousand viewers.

Event: Off by Roots United

About: On Sunday Mosaique will host the second event of the 170 evening series with a special host from the UK: Klute, one of the pioneers of breakbeat and the founder of the Commercial Suicide Records label.
