About: The Tale of Tsar Saltan is an opera in a prologue and four acts by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. It was written by Vladimir Belsky, and is based on the poem of the same name by Aleksandr Pushkin.

Event: Kanonersky Island Environmental Biennale 2
About: Get away from the crowds in the city center and come to Kanonersky Island for this year’s Environmental biennale. The impressive views of cargo ships coming from the Baltic Sea will be the backdrop to the 2-day independent collective art project. Saturday will be dedicated to an open-air art exhibition, with excursions about the artworks and the history of the island by local artists. Sunday will see a series of lectures, poetry readings, and performances about ecology, and will end in a collective clean-up of the island.

Event: The photography of Protest lecture by David Frenkel
About: One of St Petersburg’s best protest photographers will give a lecture on Saturday at the Street Art Museum about the history and techniques of the genre. How has protest photography changed from the Civil Rights Movement to Maidan and the Arab Spring, and is it able to accurately capture protest events?

About: Music lovers, be sure to drop by the non-conformist art cluster Pushkinskaya 10 on Sunday for the Vinyl festival. Shops from Moscow and St Petersburg will exhibit their collections, amidst music brought to you by DJs throughout the day. The courtyard of the legendary art space will be full of rare and out-of-print records and vinyl accessories.

About: Summer is just on the way and rooftop parties have already started in St Petersburg. Hi-Hat live nights is a summer project by Special Case Event.
